Yoga Filter!

Dear readers, I am offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to join my Yoga filter! This is to spare those who could care beans or less about my personal yoga practice, nuances of teacher training, the finer points of yogic philosophy, etc...

Of course, I still reserve the right to talk about yoga to the masses whenever I please. Unfortunately, you'll just have to deal with that.

Kindly leave a comment if you would like to opt in. I won't be offended if you opt out, I promise!

Sure!

I'd like to be in! I am just starting yoga again and have lots to learn.

I would be interested in the yoga filter.

I want in!

I'm interested!

yes please. I would like to learn from your learnin', although it make me feel kinda guilty, like a cyclist drafting on a truck's airstream. But I would like to think it could encourage me to be more yogic in my everyday versus during my limited Copious Spare Time (TM)

Don't feel guilty! Hopefully you can learn from my learnin'!

hi, i found you through brooke's journal, and would like to add you as a friend. please include me on the yoga filter, if that's ok? i still consider myself a beginner, but always looking for more resources to learn more about yoga from.

[identity profile] marinatempest.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh okay, no problem! Have we maybe met at RSC before?

[identity profile] green-eyed-soul.livejournal.com 2008-02-01 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
hi again, thanks for the yoga add! finding more places to read about yoga and people's yoga experiences was one of my goals for this week. i love reading yoga blogs. :)

i haven't made it out to an RSC event, actually haven't seen brooke in quite some time. different circles, i guess. last i saw her was at one of Tim's dj'ing gigs in DC.

I'm commenting for two reasons :) First, to let you know that I added you and I'm not some random nut. This is agsine from glitter. :) Second, because a yoga filter sounds interesting!

Oh, okay! Hi! You're in!

[identity profile] mamculuna.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to be on your yoga filter, but first need to say that I just added you as friend but will gladly get off if you're not looking for new ones! I saw your suggestions on [livejournal.com profile] tammonlinear's post, and since I like some of those too (Getz/Gilberto,Wild Parrots, tempeh), checked your site--and really have an interest in yoga--so would like to read your posts, if I may.

Interestingly, I just woke from a dream about being in yoga teacher training, something I've considered but haven't done.

Oh OK, cool! Nice to meet you! A friend of bossa nova is a friend of mine! ( ;

I'm not sure if this filter is still in effect, but I would love to be a part of it :) I recently picked up yoga again - I can't afford to take classes, so it's me and the DVD - so in lieu, I would love to read about your experiences.

[identity profile] marinatempest.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! I added you as a friend and put you on my Yoga filter! I still ramble on about yoga a lot here, but you can also find me at OmChantress (http://www.omchantress.com).

Enjoy your yoga practice! Yay! Do you have any DVDs you love? I don't generally use them myself but students often ask me. I do like Shiva Rea's DVDs though.

[identity profile] inkandrunes.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, I was too restless today to settle to it, which is frustrating because it's been over a week since I was last able to practice yoga! I have one of Shiva Rea's, which is the one I am currently using. I'm letting myself learn each of the four routines by heart (I'm still on the first!) and then this DVD contains a sequence builder of sorts, so that I can build my own routine once I have a better understanding of how the poses flow from one another and what areas of the body each focus on. I also have one by Ali MacGraw, which was the first one I ever got. I honestly can't recall how it compares, as I haven't used it for quite some time.

I much prefer classes to DVDs, and I am not practiced enough to do without any guidance whatsoever :) Do you have a preference or recommendation in terms of which is better: consistently using the same DVD, or switching between several? Does it matter?

[identity profile] marinatempest.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes the Ali McGraw DVD! The instructor is my all-time favorite teacher, Erich Schiffmann. His book is also wonderful. I love him so much!

Honestly, I don't think it matters a whole lot whether you use the same DVD or mix it up. There was a time when I did the MTV Yoga DVD every day for ... uh ... an embarrassingly long time! It's actually really good! The more you practice, the more you'll get to know what feels good to you when and it will all work out. Whatever gets you to practice is good, I think!

I found your journal through [livejournal.com profile] nalathilion's. I'd love to read your yoga posts if tha's ok with you.

[identity profile] marinatempest.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi and welcome! I added you.

Do you live in Brazil? My husband and I love Brazilian music.

[identity profile] satya.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! My boyfriend's a yoga instructor so I'm very interested, sadly my LJ doesn't contain a lot of yoga as I haven't been able to attend classes in a long time. I can't wait to resume my practice though.
I'm adding you as well thought my journal isn't very interesting.

Yes, I am a Brazilian who's also crazy in love with our music. I'm always thrilled when someone tells me they like our music. :)
