Dear readers, I am offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to join my Yoga filter! This is to spare those who could care beans or less about my personal yoga practice, nuances of teacher training, the finer points of yogic philosophy, etc...

Of course, I still reserve the right to talk about yoga to the masses whenever I please. Unfortunately, you'll just have to deal with that.

Kindly leave a comment if you would like to opt in. I won't be offended if you opt out, I promise!

Unfortunately, I was too restless today to settle to it, which is frustrating because it's been over a week since I was last able to practice yoga! I have one of Shiva Rea's, which is the one I am currently using. I'm letting myself learn each of the four routines by heart (I'm still on the first!) and then this DVD contains a sequence builder of sorts, so that I can build my own routine once I have a better understanding of how the poses flow from one another and what areas of the body each focus on. I also have one by Ali MacGraw, which was the first one I ever got. I honestly can't recall how it compares, as I haven't used it for quite some time.

I much prefer classes to DVDs, and I am not practiced enough to do without any guidance whatsoever :) Do you have a preference or recommendation in terms of which is better: consistently using the same DVD, or switching between several? Does it matter?

Yes the Ali McGraw DVD! The instructor is my all-time favorite teacher, Erich Schiffmann. His book is also wonderful. I love him so much!

Honestly, I don't think it matters a whole lot whether you use the same DVD or mix it up. There was a time when I did the MTV Yoga DVD every day for ... uh ... an embarrassingly long time! It's actually really good! The more you practice, the more you'll get to know what feels good to you when and it will all work out. Whatever gets you to practice is good, I think!
